National Forum for Transportation Skills (previously TVG)

The National Transportation Qualifications are awarded by the Transportation National Forum for Transportation Skills (previously TVG). www.transportationskills.org.uk, a partnership between:

The National Transportation Qualifications

These qualifications are based on the NVQ Framework, following the development of standards by the Construction Industry Council after extensive work with those employed within the transportation industry and are applicable to all professionals who are involved in this sector.

Key Information about the National Transportation Qualifications (NTQs)

NTQs are competence-based qualifications, with assessment, that incorporates candidates' underpinning knowledge and understanding within the Transportation Sector. NTQs are designed to meet current needs and cover all transportation disciplines including:

• Transport Planning
• Asset Management
• Highway Maintenance
• Traffic Management & Control
• Systems Engineering
• Road Safety
• Transport Assessment
• Development Control

The qualifications seek to address the changing role and nature of the transportation sector and, at different levels, provide an integrated suite of awards comprising core and option units.

Great care has been taken to ensure that the standards and qualifications’ structure is flexible enough to accommodate the many and varied roles that exist across the UK along with encouraging a consistent provision nationally.

Transportation NVQ candidates may be assessed by both an assessor from TMS Consultancy and CASL Management Development, so as to ensure that the competence within the Transportation and Highways field are met as well as the NVQ requirements.
