NVQs for the construction and building industry
NVQs are suitable for individuals working in the construction industry who have already gained on site construction and building skills as well as for those who are just starting out in the industry.
What are NVQs?
NVQ qualifications prove what individuals working on a construction site are skilled to do. By undertaking and achieving NVQ qualifications their performance is measured against a benchmark validated by the National Occupational Standard.
How do I achieve an NVQ?
Construction NVQs are achieved through practical assessment which is usually through on-the-job observation and questioning. Candidates produce evidence to prove they have the required skills. The assessor tests candidates understanding and performance to make sure they can demonstrate on the job competence. Candidates work with assessors to look at what they have achieved, how much they still need to do and how they should go about it, until they are assessed as competent for an individual unit or a whole NVQ.
