Both partners were closely involved in the development of the Awarding Body primarily to ensure that the standards of the industry and the Professional Institutions were considered and maintained.

CASL Management Development was formed in 2002 and approved by Edexcel to offer Construction Management and Supervision NVQs at Levels 3, 4 and 5. Since then more NVQs have been added to the original portfolio, and in November 2003 was the first centre to be awarded approval to offer NVQ Level 5 Construction Project Management.

Annual External Verification visits by Edexcel have awarded the CASL Management Training centre an ‘A’ grade for Assessment, Internal verification and centre management (2005). The company also employs part-time Assessors and Internal Verifiers.

The company received Chartered Building Consultancy status from the CIOB in July 2005.

CASL Management Development is totally dedicated to helping individuals transfer their proven management abilities into internationally recognised qualifications. CASL is an approved assessment centre for Construction National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) at Levels 3, 4 and 5 with the joint awarding body of Edexcel, the Chartered Institute of Building and the Institution of Civil Engineers, and Transportation Vocational Qualifications (TVQs) at Levels 3, 4 and 5 through the Open University Awarding Body (OUAB).

CASL have been working with individuals directly, or via their employers, since 2002 and over the years has built an enviable reputation in assessing and qualifying professionals through the NVQ process.

Working either with major corporations, small businesses or individuals, the commitment from CASL is consistent and all candidates receive the same high standard of support. Candidates demonstrate, through work based evidence, their ability to meet the requirements of the qualifications, thus avoiding the need to return to the classroom, and are supported all the way by experienced assessors from the CASL team.

CASL is managed by exceptionally experienced professionals who are totally committed to the vocational approach and fully understand the implications for candidates who are engaged in full time employment. (See 'Meet the Team').

In 2003 CASL became the very first organisation to be awarded approval to offer NVQ level 5 Construction Project Management.
